Application of Nd: YAG laser

Publish Time: 2023-07-07     Origin: Site

The wavelength of the Nd: YAG laser is 1064 nm, which is not near the absorption peak of oxyhemoglobin. The absorption of oxyhemoglobin to Nd: YAG laser is poor. However, its penetration depth can reach about 8 mm, so it can play a therapeutic role in hemangiomas in deeper parts. Nd: YAG laser can be divided into two types according to different energy output modes: continuous type and pulse type.

Application of Nd: YAG laser

At present, continuous Nd: YAG laser is commonly used, but the thermal damage of this kind of laser to tissues is non-selective. While coagulation of tumor blood vessels, the excess energy will also damage the surrounding normal tissues, which is easy to leave scars after surgery. Landthaler et al. treated 4 children with hemangioma with continuous Nd: YAG laser. Although the tumor growth was inhibited, all of them left scars after the operation. Therefore, continuous Nd: YAG laser is widely used in the department of facial features, gynecology, and surgery, while in the department of dermatology, it is more prudent to use it because it can not achieve a good cosmetic effect. However, Vlachakis used an ice pack during Nd: YAG laser treatment to reduce the formation of scar after the operation, suggesting that the cooling protection device for treating local skin can reduce the formation of scar.

Compared with continuous Nd: YAG laser, pulsed Nd: YAG laser is more in line with the theory of selective photothermal action. It can reduce thermal damage to surrounding normal tissues and reduce the occurrence of scars and other adverse reactions. Weiss et al. used pulsed Nd: YAG laser to treat vascular diseases and achieved good results. At the same time, because melanin particles absorbed very little 1064 nm laser, skin damage rarely occurred. Groot et al. treated various types of deep vascular lesions with high-energy long-pulse Nd: YAG laser. The results showed that 19% of the lesions were completely cleared after one treatment, and 80% of the patients' skin lesions subsided by more than 50%. The postoperative adverse reactions were mild and transient. L Common adverse reactions include purpura and temporary pigment changes, blisters, scabs, skin texture changes, and scars occasionally.

Use of Nd: YAG laser

1. Tattoo removal. Effectively remove all eyebrows, embroidered eyebrows, lips, tattoos, eyeliner, and lip lines.

2. Vascular lesion removal

3. Skin regeneration, improves rough pores, rough skin, and fine lines, and restores skin elasticity.

4. Wrinkle reduction

5. Acne scar reduction. Improve dullness and make skin white and even, remove true and false wrinkles, and fight aging on the face and body.

6. Skin toning

7. Epidermal and pigmented lesions: Nevus of Ota, Sun damage, Melasma
