HS-220
Apolomed
Product Description
The HS-220 Q-switched Nd:YAG laser system operates on the principle of selective photothermolysis, delivering nanosecond pulses of laser energy that target pigmented structures within the skin. The Q-switching mechanism produces high peak power in short pulse durations, creating a photoacoustic effect that shatters pigment particles into smaller fragments. These fragmented particles are then gradually eliminated through the body's natural lymphatic and metabolic processes over the weeks following treatment.
Selective photothermolysis allows laser energy to be absorbed specifically by target chromophores, such as tattoo ink or melanin, while leaving surrounding skin tissue largely unaffected. This targeted approach minimizes damage to healthy epidermal and dermal structures. The pulse duration of less than 10 nanoseconds ensures energy is delivered faster than the thermal relaxation time of target pigment, reducing the risk of thermal injury to adjacent tissue and supporting patient recovery.
This Q-switched laser system features two wavelengths that address different pigment types and treatment depths. The 1064nm wavelength penetrates deeper into the dermis, making it suitable for dermal pigmented lesions and darker tattoo inks. The 532nm wavelength, generated through a KTP crystal, targets epidermal pigment and lighter ink colors including red, orange, and brown. A 655nm red diode aiming beam assists operators in precise treatment positioning and alignment.
The HS-220 system is designed for tattoo removal procedures across various ink colors and placement depths. The 1064nm wavelength addresses black, blue, and dark-colored tattoos in deeper dermal layers, while the 532nm wavelength targets red, orange, and brown pigments in the epidermis. The adjustable spot size from 1mm to 5mm allows practitioners to match the treatment area to tattoo dimensions, from fine-line eyebrow tattoos to larger body art pieces. Handpiece accessories include a 1064nm zoom lens, a 532nm KTP lens, and a 7mm beam expander for different treatment requirements.
This Q-switched Nd:YAG laser addresses a range of pigmented skin concerns. Epidermal lesions such as freckles, solar lentigines, and seborrheic keratosis respond to the 532nm wavelength. Dermal pigment conditions including melasma and nevus of Ota are treated with the 1064nm wavelength. Adjustable energy settings — reaching up to 2400mJ at 1064nm and 1200mJ at 532nm — allow practitioners to calibrate parameters based on lesion type, depth, and patient skin type.
When used with a carbon lotion application, the 1064nm wavelength performs carbon peel procedures, also known as black doll facial treatments. This application addresses skin texture concerns, enlarged pores, and uneven skin tone. The laser energy interacts with carbon particles to produce an exfoliative effect on the epidermal layer, supporting skin rejuvenation outcomes with minimal downtime for patients.
Standard mode provides pre-configured treatment protocols for common applications, including tattoo removal, pigmented lesions, and skin rejuvenation. Each preset includes recommended energy levels, spot sizes, and repetition rates based on treatment type. This mode supports practitioners who prefer guided parameter selection and helps maintain consistency across treatments and among different operators in a clinical setting.
Professional mode allows experienced operators to adjust all treatment parameters freely, including energy output, spot size, and repetition frequency. This flexibility enables customized treatment plans for patients with specific needs or complex presentations. The 15.6-inch true color touch screen displays all parameters clearly for real-time monitoring and adjustment during procedures.

The Q-switched Nd:YAG laser can be used across Fitzpatrick skin types I through VI when appropriate parameters are selected. The 1064nm wavelength is suitable for darker skin types due to its lower melanin absorption compared with shorter wavelengths. Practitioners should conduct patch tests and adjust energy settings based on individual patient assessment before proceeding with full treatment.
The number of sessions varies based on tattoo size, ink color, ink depth, and patient skin type. Professional tattoos typically require more sessions than amateur tattoos due to higher ink density and deeper deposition. Treatment intervals are usually spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart to allow the lymphatic system to clear fragmented pigment between sessions. Practitioners assess progress at each visit and adjust the treatment plan accordingly.
The 1064nm wavelength penetrates deeper into the dermal layer and targets dark pigments such as black and blue tattoo ink, as well as dermal pigmented lesions. The 532nm wavelength, produced by a KTP crystal, operates at a shallower depth and targets lighter pigments including red, orange, and brown tattoo ink, as well as epidermal lesions like freckles and solar lentigines.
The portable HS-220 system does not require specialized installation. It operates on standard AC power (110V or 230V, 50/60Hz) and features a built-in air and water cooling system. The 25kg weight and compact dimensions allow placement in treatment rooms with limited space, and the device can be relocated as needed within a facility, making it suitable for multi-room practices or mobile treatment services.
